What is a business contact database?
What a business contact dataset contains, what it does not contain, and how buyers typically use one lawfully.
A business contact database is a structured list of organisations with the details needed to identify and reach them: company name, phone number, website, address, city, postal code and โ where available โ a business email address and category.
What a typical row looks like
| Company name | Phone | City | Postcode | Website | Category |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Example Trading Ltd | +44 20 7946 0000 | Exampletown | AB1 2CD | https://www.example.com | Restaurants |
Every dataset page on this site shows the exact columns delivered and how many rows have each column filled in (the coverage percentage).
What it is not
- It is not a list of private individuals' personal details.
- It does not include sensitive categories such as health, religion, political opinion, financial account data or government identifiers.
- It is not "permission to contact". Buying a dataset does not give consent from the businesses in it.
Common lawful uses
- Market sizing and territory planning (how many businesses of a type exist in a region).
- Enriching or de-duplicating an existing CRM.
- B2B outreach where local law allows it, after screening against suppression lists such as the UK TPS/CTPS or the US National Do Not Call Registry, and honouring opt-outs.
Questions to ask any seller
- How many records exist, and how many will I receive?
- Which fields are included, and what percentage of rows have each one filled in?
- When was the data last processed?
- Will a repeat purchase give me the same rows again?
This marketplace answers all four on every product page before you pay.
